Helpful Tips for Looking After and Using Bulk Macadamia Nuts and Nut Spread. 

Always store bulk nuts in an air tight container away from heat and light.  Any prolonged exposure to moisture will cause the nuts to rehydrate and lose their crunch and flavour. 

Macadamia Nuts can be refrigerated or frozen in airtight containers for indefinite shelf life. Do not put the compostable bags straight in the fridge or freezer, they need to go into a sealed freezer bag or other airtight container so that no moisture gets in.  Squeeze the air out of the freezer bag before freezing especially in humid weather (pretty much always in NZ!).

Macadamia Nuts can be ground into paste, used in pesto and dukkah. They can also be used to make macadamia milk and cheese.

When roasting Macadamia Nuts use a very low oven temperature (150 C maximum).  Watch closely for when the nuts start to turn golden brown (around 10 minutes) then remove from the oven as they will continue to cook.  Don't leave them in until they are the perfect colour!!
